THE TERMITES OF RELATIONSHIPS
"Assumptions are the termites of relationships."~ Henry Winkler
So often a person will say or do something and we read some meaning into it that may be the furthest thing from their mind. We make assumptions based upon where we are in our life at that time and what our opinions are about the topic or behavior and we are usually a long ways from carefully listening to or understanding the other party's true intentions. We are often too wrapped up in our own ideas to really listen and see correctly.
How many relationships have been ruined because of assumptions that are made? To make matters even worse oftentimes the other person that we are assuming something about will make assumptions about our misguided intentions and so the cycle can go around and around and may never be resolved unless one party or the other takes the initiative to break it.
I think it is very wise to stop and think before making any assumptions about anything. Do we always have to make some kind of a judgment or have an opinion about everything that is said and done? What do you think?
"As you think, so you become.....Our busy minds are forever jumping to conclusions, manufacturing and interpreting signs that aren't there.”—Epictetus

I think we don't need to have judgements, but being able to to stop them all together, because we live with our 5 senses for the most part, but i am learning to yield my tongue and mind more to the Lord. Jesus told us Judge not least ye be Judged. When i suspend my Judgements i find a blessing happens, to me and the other person. If it is in my mind i dont always have to speak it out. I know though that my natural mind cannot receive of the LORD, nor anything from the LORD, nor comprehend. Instead of judging i think we be much better to bless them. I am new at blessings, but today, i got out of a pit from just blessing instead of the round the round the desert of my mind. Father loves us so much. I am truly bless to be able to know and learn from HIM.
