FULLNESS OF LIFE FOR ALL PEOPLE
Psalm 67:1-2 Common English Bible (CEB)
1 Let God grant us grace and bless us; let God make his face shine on us, Selah
2 so that your way becomes known on earth, so that your salvation becomes known among all the nations.
Oftentimes we become so wrapped up in our own little world and seek God's blessings in terms of ourself only and forget that the purpose of being blessed by God is so that His way might be known to many others. Abram (later Abraham) was blessed so that through His seed all nations of the world would be blessed and come to know the true God (see Genesis 12:1-3). Our relationship with God is not just for our own fulfillment but with the larger vision that all people may come to know Him and receive His blessings along with us. In both the OT and NT the word "salvation" includes wholeness, healing, and fullness of life. So when we receive "salvation" we are a part of God's work of bringing new life and hope to everyone else as well. I think as we keep this larger picture in mind that our spiritual journey will advance to a whole new level. May God help each of us to enlarge our spiritual borders and to get past the "me centered" way of thinking which is so popular in our modern culture.
