IN HIS HAND
Job 12:10 English Standard Version (ESV)
10 In his hand is the life of every living thing
and the breath of all mankind.
From the days of eternity our life has always been secure and in God's hands. Nothing can ever take this away from us. Also we need to keep in mind that everyone else is in God's hands as well. We should indeed care about the well-being of others but we must remember that ultimately God cares about them more than we could ever think of doing. Sometimes in our anxiety and with the very best of intentions we take things into our hands regarding what we think someone else needs to believe, do, or receive when it would be much better to commit that person into God's hands and avoid exercising personal control as we are so often tempted to do. There can be a fine line at times between being genuinely helpful and meddling.
Religions came into being to address our God-given desire to find answers to such questions as the mystery of death, the afterlife, to make sense of this present life, to find meaning and purpose, to have a sense of security, and to learn how to relate to our fellow travelers. Regardless of our philosophy or religion each of us has the challenge of finding answers to these vital questions and we must not be overly dependent upon others to do this for us. Ultimately we must find our own answers. If we would simply realize that "the life of every living thing" is in His hands we would be delivered from the mother of all fears which is that of annihilation (obliteration, nonexistence) and we would begin to experience the abundant life that Jesus came to give us (see John 10:10). This revelation seems to me like a good starting point for seeking and finding answers.
