NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONE DAY AND A THOUSAND YEARS
"For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.”—Psalm 90:4 ESV
"Don't overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day.”—2 Peter 3:8 The Message
"But do not forget one thing, my dear friends! There is no difference in the Lord's sight between one day and a thousand years; to him the two are the same.”—2 Peter 3:8 GNT
If you study Psalm 90 in its entirety, it is simply teaching that time, as we know it, is irrelevant to God. This verse has been totally distorted in popular schools of prophecy interpretation. False interpretations of prophecy have seriously messed up the lives of thousands who have taken them seriously. God is not limited to nor does He function in terms of linear time as we know it. One of my esteemed email friends, who is a serious Bible student, has said it well. He expresses my thoughts exactly.
"Perhaps, in God’s infinite, timeless, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent mind, there are no true and actual dividing lines between the past, present and future. Perhaps He chuckles at our finite attempts to understand and convey an eschatology that is beyond our understanding of time, space and matter.”—an email to me from Brian McHenry
