A SHELTER THROUGH THE STORMS OF LIFE
"For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.”--Psalm 27:5 (AMPC)
"Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.”—1 Corinthians 13:7 (TPT)
Our gracious God has provided a shelter sure and stedfast for all of us (Psalm 55:8; Isaiah 4:6 and 25:4). The love of God which is shed forth in our hearts by the Holy Spirit is the ultimate and only true shelter from the storms of life that we all struggle with in this present life (Romans 5:5). The source of the love I’m talking about is God Himself for in purest understanding “God is love”—1 John 4:8. God's love will keep convicting us until we surrender to its drawing power—the only real power in the universe (Isaiah 45:5; John 6:44). These words state the principle very clearly: "Does the Scripture mean nothing to you that says, 'The Spirit that God breathed into our hearts is a jealous Lover who intensely desires to have more and more of us’?”—James 4:5 (TPT) The God who wants more and more of us will lead us to right every wrong and the sooner we respond the better. In creation God breathed His Spirit into our hearts the very imprint of the Divine which is pure love (Genesis 1:26-28). That love burning within us will convict us in every area of our life (John 16:8). It will lead us to forgive. Forgiveness is an ongoing experience that becomes a way of life. All of us fail to manifest God’s love so many times. To quote the words of the late Desmond Ford, “None of us are what we should be, could be, or would be.” That is why we need to forgive ourselves and others constantly. Failure to do this will bring suffering. Eventually our conscience will compel us to do whatever is necessary to forgive others the same way God forgives us—unconditionally. When we surrender to God’s love and heed His Voice we indeed have a “shelter” to carry us through the storms of life. If the Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart about forgiveness or in some other area please listen. Do not delay. "As it is said, 'Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.’”—Hebrews 3:15 (ESV)
"Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves - regret for the past and fear of the future.”-- Fulton Oursler
