EMBRACING OTHERS IN PRAYER One of the very first teachings I learned when I started to have set apart times of Silence is that this prayer includes or embraces everyone in the world--the entire created order. When the woman who had an issue of blood for many years touched the hem of Jesus' garment she was healed as that was her point of contact. I do not keep a specific prayer list as I once did but assure those who reach out to me for prayer that they are embraced in my times of communion with God. As I experience divine Love in times of prayer, healing and uplift is going forth and touches lives. Those who specifically reach out to me for prayer are "touching the hem of my garment" or making contact with me in my times of communion with God. God knows their needs and I do not see prayer as giving God information or telling Him what to do. My task is to maintain that walk with God through prayer and meditation. At times I'm guided to lift up names of people as they come to mind and embrace them specifically in the arms of Divine Love. We must always be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our times of prayer as we are in every other aspect of our lives.
Let these simple but very powerful scriptures speak to your heart: Exodus 14:13; Psalm 37:7; 46:10; Isaiah 26:3; 30:15; 40:30-31; Matthew 6:5-8; Acts 17:28; Romans 8:26-27; Jude 20.
I invite you to read from THE SONG OF THE HEART. This a series of short articles on the topic of prayer and Silence:
