THE JOURNEY FROM SENSE TO SOUL
In traditional Christian religion certain behaviors are regarded as wrong and others very good. “Right and wrong” are usually defined by how people interpret the Bible. The interpretations of what the Bible is actually saying both in areas of behavior and doctrine are indeed many so we have a very divided Christianity and at times warfare has even taken place with so-called Christians persecuting and even putting to death those whom they deemed to be defective either in belief or behavior. If you factor in all of the traditions and rules that churches have evolved over the centuries the “dos and don’ts” within Christianity are more than anyone could possibly keep track of, let alone put into practice. Surely God has better things for His children.
Those things which are not well chosen will inevitably bring suffering at some level. Good choices will bring good to us and others (see Galatians 6:7-8). Over time we decide that we would like to either reduce or cease suffering so we are led to ascertain what may be causing it and make necessary changes. For most people this is a process of learning that takes a very long time. At some point in our eternal journey we will need to learn whatever is necessary to return to our true being as spiritual. There is no escaping of this purifying process of God’s love. The spiritualization of all things is inevitable and no one knows how this will come about or how long it will take. All things in the realm of time, space, and matter as we know them will vanish into their native nothingness at some point with all of us. That is our inescapable destiny. Over time we learn to make choices that are founded in love rather than self-seeking and begin to taste increasingly more of the Kingdom of God which exceeds all of the pleasures and pains of material existence (see Luke 12:32). These things must be revealed to everyone in their own time and way as they are ready to receive. No one can do this for anyone else no matter how much they would like to do so. Jesus said, “My sheep will hear my voice.” We must allow others to make the journey from sense to Soul (God) as they are individually led.
