QUALITIES OF SOUL
"You have good eyes, yet you still don’t see, and you have good ears, yet you still don’t hear, neither do you remember.”—Mark 8:18 (TPT)
Sight, hearing and memory are thought to be based on physicality only—parts of the body functioning correctly. Not true! Beethoven had been deaf for years before writing his famous and beloved 9th symphony as well as other great compositions. Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968) was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. A prolific author, she was well-traveled and outspoken in her convictions. In truth, sight, hearing, and memory are qualities of Soul (God); it is that indwelling Presence that makes it possible for not only deaf and blind people to do great things but also child prodigies such as Mozart to compose great music. Mentally handicapped people have accomplished great things that have stymied the best experts in human psychology. As our ears, eyes, and mental faculties are opened by the Spirit of God our potential in life becomes greater than could ever be imagined. We are far too quick to look to some material means for help instead of learning to commune with Infinite Spirit, the Source of all good things—which includes our sight, hearing and mental acuity. The popular trend to keep talking about getting old and its degeneration is pure insanity and is producing its own baleful results. Instead, dwell on the unfolding of wisdom, gentleness, and inner beauty that comes with advancing earth years.
