FULFILLED PROPHECY
For many years I was greatly troubled by most of the prophecy interpretations that I had considered as there were so many things that never made sense to me. Somewhere around 2008 the teaching that is referred to by several names such as Preterism, Fulfilled Prophecy, or Covenant Eschatology came to my attention and I started to make a deep study of what various teachers were saying and the pieces of the puzzle started to come together in ways that not only made sense to me intellectually but brought great rejoicing to my heart. There are some variations among the Preterist writers and I’ve looked at most of them. Full Preterism opens up huge portions of the Bible to me that I’ve never understood so fully before—especially the fulfillment of Old Testament prophetic writings which are so precious and powerful. Inasmuch as the Bible has been the focal point of my spiritual journey since 1951 this increased understanding is a most wonderful. I also see that beyond the immediate fulfillment of prophecy as expressed in Full Preterism there are wider spiritual principles which are timeless. Being able to see their immediate fulfillment in the generation that Jesus promised they would be fulfilled has helped me to see the deeper meanings as well (see Matthew 24:34). For me the most important factor in Bible study is to see the deep spiritual meaning that goes beyond the immediate historical and literal applications. However, understanding Bible prophecy in the context of its historical fulfillment is a huge blessing.
The paragraph below is a concise summary of what Full Preterism is about. There are many wonderful resources available for those who are deep Bible students. Among my favorite Preterist teachers are Don K Preston, Rob Pike, and John Noe. There are many videos on youtube available by these teachers and I love watching them. I can't say that I fully agree with every detail of any of the Preterist teachers but I don't find any writers to be perfect. The treasures of God’s word are only to be found by earnest seekers for truth and who have an open-mind to get past the blatant deceptions that are being widely disseminated on most of the so-called Christian TV channels. Read the summary below. If this interpretation is not for you then simply let let it pass by without fussing over it.
"Peterism is the view that all prophecy of the end times, the Judgment, Second Coming, and Resurrection were fulfilled in the events surrounding the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. In that event, the Old Covenant world of Israel came to an end, as the New Covenant World of Jesus and his church was fully established. This view holds that Biblical eschatology is not about the end of history, but the end of Israel’s Covenant World, thus, COVENANT ESCHATOLOGY, not Historical Eschatology."—Don K Preston, D Div, WE SHALL MEET HIM IN THE AIR: THE WEDDING OF THE KING OF KINGS!, Forward to the book
