THIS IS THE WAY

Isaiah 30:21 (New King James Version)
21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (The Message)
5-6 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he's the one who will keep you on track.
Romans 8:14 (Amplified Bible)
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
(For precious promises of divine guidance read: Psalm 23:2-3, 25:9, 32:8, 48:14, 73:24; Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 30:31; 42:16, 48:17; John 16:13; Romans 8:14)
The above quoted verses have been so very wonderful to me over the years. There have been so many times when I’ve been in deep perplexity, facing what seemed to be overwhelming obstacles and in some unexpected way I would receive guidance as to what I needed to do to work through that situation. Sometimes my guidance directed me to read a certain book that would give me the insight and help that I needed. Sometimes I’ve been directed to have conversation with a friend. Other times the answer would just dawn on my mind in a loving, gentle way during times of waiting upon the Lord. The help always came in the most appropriate way to meet my human need and I give God thanks for that.
The words from the Proverbs verses are so plain and simple:
(1) “Trust God from the bottom of your heart”—Surrender all to God. Humble yourself before Him in complete dependence, realizing your utter helplessness if left to your own strength and understanding.
(2) “Don't try to figure out everything on your own”—Recognize your inability to find all the answers and that ultimately only God has the answers that you need.
(3) “Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go”—Let go of your own thoughts and opinions about anything and everything long enough so that God can speak to you by that still small voice from within. Your mind doesn’t always have to be in high gear nor does your mouth have to be always going either. Turn off all of the media, find a quiet place, go within, and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
(4) “He's the one who will keep you on track”—If left to ourselves we will get off track in our spiritual journey. Continual surrender, humility, devotion, and faith are absolutely essential to keep us grounded.
The greatest area of guidance that we all need is to discover our destiny and calling in life. The above mentioned guidelines work well for so-called small, everyday areas of guidance as well as the overall direction that our life needs to go. Multitudes wander aimlessly and without purpose in life because they simply do not give God a chance to reveal His will for them. When we spend time in Silence with God we will know why we are here in this life, what our calling is, and we will do it spontaneously with joy and gratitude.
