IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE
by Thomas E Durst
1 Corinthians 15:52 New King James Version (NKJV)
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
As we travel along on our spiritual journey we may have "dry spells" in which we look at outward appearances and are tempted to think nothing is happening. We are always God's children, precious in His sight, and His love and grace are always at work whether we see any outward manifestations or not. The sun is always shining but on cloudy days we don't see much brightness. God's love is like the sunlight--always there, even when we can't see or feel it. However, in God's timing, "in the twinkling of an eye," we sometimes receive special blessings and revelations of God's love and deeper insights about life and eternity. "We shall be changed" should not be limited to a future state of being which we now can't understand. Change and spiritual growth are a present reality and sometimes we may take a big step forward that may come at an unexpected time, "in the twinkling of an eye." The trumpet of Truth sounds anew, we are "raised incorruptible" and are "changed." Our old, false corruptible sense of life takes another step of fading away and we go on to the deeper things of God, experiencing His love anew.
