THE NAME ABOVE EVERY NAME
"As a result God highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow
—in heaven and on earth and under the earth—
and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord
to the glory of God the Father.”--Philippians 2:9-11 (NET Bible)
"On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.”—Revelation 19:16 ESV
I’m finding in dealing with my own life challenges that learning how to pray and rebuke the enemy the way that Jesus and the apostles did is very powerful. Sometimes I pray, “I plead the blood of Jesus over this _________” and fill in the blank with a personal need of most any kind, some situation in my immediate world or in the world at large. Another prayer is to rebuke the problem (or perhaps a physical issue) very forthrightly and directly like, “You spirit of __________ I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to go out--leave my body (or life) alone” (see Acts16:18) Jesus has given His children the power (authority) to do that very thing (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 10:19). I may fill in the blank with the name of some specific problem, wrong feelings or thoughts that are tempting me, or any other area where I feel the enemy or one of his spirits is coming against me. JESUS IS THE NAME ABOVE ALL OTHER NAMES. Every knee shall bow and every name must bow at the name of Jesus and confess that HE IS LORD (Philippians 2:9-11). All of these problems (or sicknesses) have names attached to them. JESUS IS KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS OVER ALL OF THEM (Revelation 19:16). We too easily forget that and forfeit our divine heritage as children of King Jesus. Instead of rebuking our problems (sicknesses or whatever the issue may be) through the power and authority that Jesus has given to us we often dwell on these very things and talk about them which gives them power over us (Proverbs 18:21; Matthew 12:35-37). If you start to step out in faith and claim the victory that Jesus has won for His believing children your life will start to go in a totally new direction (Romans 8:35-39; 1 Corinthians 15:57). In order to really enter into this kind of prayer YOU MUST BE ACTUALLY EXPERIENCING THE PRESENCE OF JESUS IN YOUR LIFE. We are not dealing with some “hocus-pocus” here but REALITY. "O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good; How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.”—Psalm 34:8 Amplified
