ABBA FATHER "When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you."—John 14:20 (NLT)
The pronoun “you” is emphatic and means “You will KNOW for yourselves.” The result of this spiritual illumination with the coming of the Holy Spirit is that we will, of ourselves, know the immanence of the Son in the Father, and our own union with the Father through Him. This will impact every aspect of our our life, including our relationships. The Spirit brings life to us with such power that we will sense the manifestation of the Father and the very life of God in our own spirit. We are privileged to experience a whole new realm of communion with God. The Spirit witnesses with our spirit that we are indeed the children of God (Romans 8:16). We will no longer seek for a Theophany from without, but in the depth of our inmost lives will cry, “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15). "Father,” is also used as the term of tender endearment by a beloved child – i.e. in an affectionate, dependent relationship with their father; "daddy," "papa.”
Study these related passages with much prayer: Luke 17:20-21; John 6:56, 63; 10:38; 14:10-11, 20; 15:5-7; 17:3, 7, 11, 21-26; Romans 8:1, 15-16; Colossians 1:26-27.
