LOVING OUR ENEMIES We truly love our enemies when we recognize that we actually don’t have any enemies except in our own thinking. Nothing can separate us from God’s love so no person can really harm or detract in the least from who we are in God (see Romans 8:31-39). IT IS IN THAT SENSE THAT WE HAVE NO ENEMIES. When we perceive people in a negative way we are making them an enemy when they really can’t truly be so. We are destroying our own peace when we do this, however much we may deny this. As we repent and look at others through the eyes of Christ, healing comes at every level—physical, mental, and spiritual. Choosing to see people in their real being in God’s image and likeness instead of their outward appearance opens the floodgates of blessings beyond what could ever be imagined (see Isaiah 44:3; 1 Corinthians 2:9-10; 2 Corinthians 5:16).
