Galatians 2:20 New Living Translation (NLT)
20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
There are several terms used that describe that "old self" which wants to keep us in bondage and is behind all the the ills of the world. Some of these are sinful nature, the flesh, carnal mind, mortal mind, etc. The good news of the gospel is that this "old self has been crucified with Christ" and we are set free from being dominated by it, even though we still have to "watch and pray" continually as it is always lurking in the shadows waiting to come forth. "It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me." These words mean that our life is no longer a self-centered one but Christ is now at the center and following Him is the way we want to go. We are no longer depending upon human will power or human resources but we live by "trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." We can rejoice with Paul, "thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57 Amplified).
"All our sins are like a grain of sand compared with the grace of God and the mountain of his love. All our sins are like a spark falling into the ocean of the love of God. God is more willing to forgive our sins than a mother is to go and save her child from a burning building."– Des Ford, Founder of Good News Unlimited
