LOVINGLY MOVING ON
"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”—Amos 3:3
There are times when we may need to separate from a situation, a person, or an organization. In some cases there may be serious issues and in others we sense over a period of time that it simply serves no useful purpose to continue the relationship. In all cases we should seek to have peace prevail and not harbor conflict and drama. Neither should we dwell on the matter continually but we need to lovingly let it go and get on with a productive life. When it becomes clear that letting go of something or a person is advisable we should not allow anyone to lay guilt trips on us or exercise control over us, even in a small degree. Each of us is accountable to God and we must have boundaries and should not allow anyone to violate them.
I left a denomination some years ago that I had been part of for 29 years because I could no longer support its foundational beliefs. At first some of the members were very angry but I simply blessed them in prayer and found fellowship with Christians in other churches. Over a period of time most of those who were angry got over it and I was able to have positive contacts with several in that church. I have no desire to persuade people to either leave or join existing organizations but to grow in their walk with God and let Him guide them in the details of how they should live.
